Alex Standler

Hi, I’m Alex!

I was born in Austria, but Lanzarote has been my home since 2005. I discovered scuba diving shortly after arriving on the island and, since 2010, I’ve been lucky enough to share this passion with our guests at Aquanautic Club.

What I enjoy most about my job is teaching and seeing someone discover Lanzarote’s fascinating underwater world for the very first time.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re joining us for your first Try Dive or coming to Lanzarote for technical diving training. What matters to me is that you feel safe and comfortable, learn something new and, above all, enjoy your time underwater.

I speak German, English and Spanish, so communication during your training or dives is never a problem.

When I’m not underwater, you’ll probably find me running along Lanzarote’s volcanic trails, practising yoga, reading a good book or listening to reggae.

I love being outdoors, and for me there’s hardly a better place than Lanzarote to combine all of these passions.

I look forward to meeting you and exploring Lanzarote’s underwater world together!

Nico Penno

Born in Argentina to German parents, I came to the island more than 20 years ago and have called it home ever since. I have been teaching diving for around 15 years, a passion that has become my way of life.

I speak Spanish, English, and German, which allows me to easily connect with divers from different parts of the world. I am a recreational diving instructor, as well as a technical and cave diver. I enjoy everything from relaxed introductory dives to more demanding explorations.

Outside the water, I am passionate about rugby: I play and also coach. This sport has taught me values such as teamwork, discipline, and respect, which I also apply to my diving courses.

I am known for my patience and empathy. I firmly believe that every student has their own pace and that the best learning takes place when you feel safe and supported. My goal is for everyone who dives with me to enjoy the experience, learn, and come away with a positive experience, whether it is their first dive or an advanced course.

If you are looking for a friendly, patient instructor with experience in recreational, technical, and cave diving, I would be delighted to accompany you underwater.

A Passion That Started Underwater

Aquanautic was created from a desire to share our passion for diving and introduce divers from around the world to Lanzarote’s fascinating underwater world. From the very beginning, we have focused on professional training, small groups and a personal approach. We want every diver to feel comfortable with us and enjoy dives that match their experience and personal goals.

Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of accompanying many people on their very first breaths underwater. At the same time, many certified divers have continued their diving education with us through advanced courses, specialties and technical diving. Today, we still enter the water with the same enthusiasm. Because no matter how many dives you have already completed, there is always something new to discover underwater.
